SAN ANTONIO, Aug 20, 2025 — The Marsh Institute for Chaplains and The Digital Theological Library announced this week a strategic partnership to translate The Heart of a Chaplain: Exploring Essentials for Ministry, 2nd Edition, into multiple languages. This initiative brings together the Marsh Institute’s experience in chaplaincy formation and DTL’s cutting-edge digital infrastructure, multilingual publishing capacity, and global accessibility platforms, according to Jim Browning, director of the Marsh Institute.

The Heart of a Chaplain, 2nd Edition is a robust, expanded resource—perfectly suited for those examining the rich diversity of chaplaincy,” Browning said. “It bridges professional experience and academic insight with real-world ministry situations, benefiting both seasoned chaplains and those entering the field. We are thrilled to be working with DTL to bring this resource to the global market.”

Thomas E. Phillips, executive director of DTL, said, “We are excited to partner with the Marsh Institute and eager to render this book into multiple major world languages and lesser-resourced languages, increasing its accessibility to chaplains worldwide.” DTL is a digital library specializing in religious, biblical and theological studies. DTL offers a suite of libraries, such as The Seminary Bookshelf, designed to serve scholars, religious professionals, and underserved regions. (https://seminarybookshelf.libguides.com/home), The Marsh Institute works collaboratively to equip, support, and advocate for chaplains in diverse and global settings, enhancing chaplaincy through shared educational materials, research, and resource development.

“By making chaplaincy resources readily available, we are supporting chaplains in their sacred calling to provide care, compassion, and dignity to others,” stated Browning. “Through DTL Press’s AI-forward multilingual platform, theological content becomes inclusive, accessible, and timely for global ministry contexts,” Phillips added.
